Envision Strategy for the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority Portside Blundell Road Improvements Project
luuceo is working with the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority to advance the sustainability and resilience performance of the Portside/Blundell Road Improvements Project. The Portside/Blundell Project is part of the Greater Vancouver Gateway 2030 strategy, created by the Gateway Transportation Collaboration Forum to identify smart infrastructure investment to remove trade bottlenecks, while addressing the community impacts of goods movement and population growth. “By removing capacity constraints and freight bottlenecks to get Canadian goods to market, these projects will help grow the economy, create well-paying jobs, and support liveable, green communities with improvements to safety, mobility, and air quality,” (vancouvergateway.ca). We worked with the port authority to conduct a preliminary assessment of potential project performance against the Envision framework for sustainable infrastructure. Following the preliminary assessment, strategies for performance improvement under Envision were explored and identified through a series of meetings with relevant project team members. Consideration was given to the port authority’s policies and priorities around sustainability, infrastructure development, community engagement, and climate resilience.
